Be more specific. What year is your bug?? Is it a Standard or Super??

umm, what exactly is wrong w/ yours? Has it been hacked up or something? Replacing the dash is probably a job i would not want to attempt lightly. I suppose it is possible to get on from a donor car and weld it in, but unless yours is totally not fixable i would give it my best shot. post a little more info, maybe someone can help you more than this.

Eeeesh I couldn't even imagine the pain of trying to fit an old metal dash. Do what you can to fix it first. This procedure is done so infrequuently with beetles I doubt you could find any real useful info.

I was thinking about adding a custom dash from JC Witney. I just wondered how hard it was to rip one out and put one back in there.

I cut out the old dashboard in the 1st Beetle I had, it was a '60 Baha. I replaced it with a piece of 1" thk. cherry plywood, cut it to the correct dimensions, cut holes for brand new analog guages and stained it cherry minwax, Boy did it ever look good when finished. BTW, when cutting out the existing metal, make sure you take off the steering wheel first. I didn't, yeah you guessed it, the jigsaw blade grabbed the metal and then kicked back, hit the steering wheel and then into my windshield. That was a real bummer. But putting in a wooden dashboard gives you alot of options and it looks real custom.

My car features a fibreglass dash from "Innovations in Fiberglass" in Phoenix, Arizona. Here's one pic showing my dash prior to installation. I've got a few more pics of it on my site at:
