CAN I PULL IT OFF?

Post by VINNY »

I have a 74 sb that i am in the process of restoring, I am a complete novice in the automotive field. I have completed the body and just yesterday pulled the engine out.\

I want to rebuild the engine. My question is can a novice perform a rebuild through the of manuels I have, chilton;haynes;bentley and muir?.

Muir's chapter on rebuilding sounds like it can be done by someone with almost virtually no mechanical skills. I'm not afraid of the challange, just would like to know van it be done.

Any other novices out there that did it???

use the web
go to places like
Kens Buggy Barn http://www.w-p-c.com/buggy.htm
RAMVW http://www.bug-bits.freeserve.co.uk/ramva/index.htm
The Bug Shop http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/4000/bsfqindx.htm
Fweem http://www.geocities.com/billberckman/1fweem.html

as well ask questions here
but YES - you can do it

Yes! However, I strongly suggest the Bentley manual! EVERYTHING is in it. Like Prego! "It's in there"!
Well worth the $35 that it cost me.

Go very slow and double check yourself every step of the way and you should be fine. And don't use cheap-o parts, you will pay for it later.
