I'm restoring a 71 Super. I hastily removed the tar paper that ran down the tunnel. I hear that they don't make this item anywhere. Is there any substitute for this or do I even need it at all?
Thanks

tunnel insulation?
you dont need it, but it does reduce road noise drastically, depends how quiet you want the car to be.. tarboard can be bought from any motor factors, its just soundproofing sheet.. its no longer as thick and ugly as the original vw stuff, but it does the same job, and is often self adhesive, requiring only mild heat to apply...

Hey bren,
Out of curiousity, what is a car factor? Is that specific to the UK {I'm here in the states}. I undercoated the inside of the pan to combat the noise levels, will this help? Is there a name for this sound proofing product?
Thanks
