Daily driver is a 1980 Vanagon 2.0L air cooled. I have two batteries but one is toast....It says its a group 42 battery and the manual does not say what to use. Can I get a different group to fit it? I ask because to me the group 42 seems to start the engine slowly....I would like to have something with a bit more umphhhh. Do you get my drift? I assume its safe to use something that fits the battery bay but there is about two inches that I could go wider in the battery bay..Are there any groups you folks know I could look into?
Thanks.

Can't remember the group number but there is a battery that will barely fit into the battery area.
Group 48 maybe?

Thanks, I went ahead and bought the group 42 anyway. It seems to be fine now that its a strong battery.
