Help figuring out what year.

I just bought a Karmann Ghia and was told that it was a 1969. However, after looking at the ID plate, it states:
TYP14
TYP 1/255A
543
FAHRGEST NR. 6339273 - This number matches the chassis number as well.

Any help anyone can give me figuring out what all these numbers mean, would be VERY appreciated!
