I log on and read every day. I have an operational 74 Thing in my stable of VW's. I live in Globe, Az.

Welcome Fred. We just passed through Globe in our Spring travels to and from our Beach house in Mexico. When I was a boy we moved from El Paso, TX to Los Angeles. My sister and I drove with our father in our Fiat 600 Multipla on the old american highway. We lost our water pump in Globe and stayed there three days in a motor lodge waiting for the part to arrive. That was when Globe was still on the main artery of American travel in the West....

I have one of two things in my possession a couple of times each year.

I maintain two things for different local owners.

I DD a 71 ghia, and have a 70 bug convertible, and live outside of Dallas TX.

Next time through, stop at the Jerry's Cafe and give me a call, we could jaw over Coffee or not. I live just across the street from Jerry's. #is nine two eight four two five nine oh oh one. Half chance of catching me at home as I do some volunteer work and am in and out a lot.

I had a Fiat 600 Multi also a lot of years ago, think it was a 1956 model, they were a different little rig.

Ours was a 57 and you don't often have a car that goes 45 mph flat out on the highway and you downshift for cigar butts. Great gas mileage before it was an issue in the US. Next time through will stop at Jerry's for sure.

Hey there!

I am mostly just a reader on this forum. I basically stick to the forced induction page but I do check out the Thing/181 page every day

I have a 74' which saved from getting crushed at the scrap yard. She is a driver but not a looker right now.

This is my 4th Thing. One street car, One Show car, One off road car and my current one a .... rusty car :)

I have a type 4 powered Thing and read this forum when I think about it. I'm usually on the Samba or our club's website. My Thing is my daily Driver. :mrgreen:

I live near Athens GA and I can't wait for this year's Kubeltreffen.

I have a '74 thing that hardly has been out of the garage in three years. I bought it for $1500. with a bum engine and last year bought another for $65. and it runs. It shows four different paint jobs and some rust. I'm learning a lot slowly. I haven't even got it titled yet. In fact I don't think it has ever been titled in the U.S.
Trying to figure out the backup lights, don't have any. Or brake lights. Working on it.
I check the thing forum time to time. Usually I'm over at the IAC vw forum.

I'm here most every day....I have 2 driver things and parts enough for about 3 more. We are located in S/E Montana
