Well... It looks like we are really going this time. The camp grounds are all full so we may have to stay at the Holiday Inn Express
. Guess we'll see around mid-night when we get there.
Collecting parts again... No I'm not going to say why!

Maybe I could hitch a ride if he's going that far East.....bajaherbie wrote:yeah, everybody but leatherneck...... but i did hear he might be rollin' thru oklahoma on I-40......
My sandrail isn't dune worthy right now, but I'm a pretty good passenger.
Do any of you ever make it over to the Imperial Sand Dunes, (Glamis area)?

Technically, I go to the other end of the dunes at Ogilby road. At least someone else here goes to real dunes.

the weather was perfect but the sand was pretty rough the whole time.... burned a bunch of firewood at night but no vw cases. here is a good photo of sanddude, the rest of the time i think he wore his overalls.....

a photo of seabee in action, he won the long distance award with a drive of over 7 hours i think. his son matthew (7) had a great time playing with the kids in the next campsite. we really had a good spot, fairly close to the gate and pretty quiet at night.

a shot of my car.... the new front end worked good, but i need a good steering dampener on the saco rack for sure. before i have always run a stock vw steering box , i like the steering ratio of the saco, it works much better in the trails now. might toss some rear disc brakes on it this winter and sell the thing drums.

i also found a spot to disperse some of the ashes of my good friend jeff walker...RIP jeff, i know little sahara was your favorite destination. GAS ON, Jeff!!!!
