Npetric's A-arm Baja....Maybe someday it will be finished

Offroad VW based vehicles have problems/insights all their own. Not to mention the knowledge gained in VW durability.

At least it looks like the wheels, tires, and brakes made it (from the pics anyways). Sorry to hear about the fire.

We had to put a good wheel/tire on the passenger front and the drivers front is junk, even though it somehow is still holding air..

The front arms still have their rattle can paint job..the rest of the front tubing was still bare metal.

Again, rolling in late on this, real sorry to read about this. Looking forward to seeing it restored and finished, I know it is going to be one sweet Baja.

I know I havent been around in a while, but I thought I would check back in and share what I decided to do last week...

I decided it was time to put the baja back in the garage...
Image

Been cleaning all the melted stuff off of it and working to get all the surface rust off. It really wasnt as bad as I thought it was after the fire. I have had it sitting outside covered since we pulled it from the garage. Other than figuring out what to do with the cat that was living in it clean up has been super easy. Primed the cage and gave it all a couple coats of good ol' rattle can, replaced annd the heims, bushings, and shocks

Spray in bedliner on the floor...

And pulled the 3.0 and stuck in a 3.5.

Great to see things are coming back together for you. Is that a different house, or the same one rebuilt? Looks really nice!
I don't always show my signature. But when I do, it's in this area.

Thanks! Its the same house, rebuilt. Took me around a year to rebuild and get moved back in, followed by a bunch of BS after getting back in. Got the house and yard where I wanted it and decided to rebuild the baja.

Yeah it's been a long time!
I ended up not needing 4 seats afterall :?....really only NEED one now..... So I sold the frame and decided to rebuild this car. Trying to get this one finished up in the next month or so!

Here is how the house turned out for those interested...
Image

I was able to rebuild the garage as a 30x30 again and made some changes inside. I had to do a lot of the work myself as I didn't have code upgrade in my policy. Luckily my gen contractor was cool with me doing what I could so I could make up the difference on what I was supposed to pay out.
I also had to re-landscape the front and back because most everything died while working on the house.....I was tired of mowing all that damn grass anyway
