2012 ChumpCar registration starts TODAY

Post by vdubsinjensen »

If any of you are planning on running a ChumpCar race in 2012, the registration is open TODAY at 9:00AM Pacific time. After reading through their forums, there's a pretty good chance that a bunch of these races WILL sell out. Daytona for sure!
Unlike 24Hours of LeMons, Chump limits the number of cars entered in their races depending on track length.
Just a reminder if you're serious about running any of their events in 2012. Better get registered as early as possible.
Frank? YoDogg?....Are you IN?

I registered to run all 3 Florida races. If I can get the rest of my Cheap-ass drivers to commit, I'd LOVE to run Road Atlanta in December. We look forward to running with you guys.
We've got a bunch of improvements planned for our car before the season starts.
SeeYa at the races!

Hey Frank,
I don't know if you've registered for Daytona yet. If not, you better get on it to save a spot. It sounds like it should sell out with all the chatter on the Chump Forums.

Hi Paul,

We are in. Yodogg is getting ready, apexing his turns on the drive to work, and we wrenches are bolting on all the anti-"racing gremlin" parts we can find.

A question. Would not two 44IDF's give you better fuel economy than one single carb?

Better question is: How many penalty laps for a pair of Webers?
I'm using Kadrons, ugly,old Kadrons.

One,
From what I've read and after talking to the CC guys, just rub some oily dirt on the case and parts where it won't hurt and they'll just leave ACVWs alone. They're mainly worried about all the $500 E30/36 and Vette's popping up ;)

Gentlemen,

We are using dual cosmetically-camouflaged Kads (Kaddy Shack) on the Blitzwagen.

I was just wondering about Paul's single 44IDF Weber's fuel efficiency. I have never set up single Webers before, and have heard second hand that they tend to use more gas than duals.

I know Paul has any tuning issues under control because his #43 Bug runs great. I watched him from the pits while we packed our gear to go home after a spectacular and dramatically smokey engine failure.

I'm not sure on the dual 44's for miliage. I've been considering them myself. I'm sure I could coax some more power out of our motor with them, but I'm hesitant about having any possible linkage issues during the races. We've been pretty pleased with the Single 44 so far, but there's always room for improvements.

I don't think the Chump officials would say much about duals. We ran a pair of 40IDF's on our back-up motor at Roebling Road, and the inspector factored them at $100, and didn't give us any laps. I don't think they take the aircooled VW's too seriously, as it's damn near impossible to crack a top 5 finish racing one. You would have to be able to run as many full, 2-hour driver stints, and run trouble -free to really finish well. Chump has mandetory 2-hour driver limits, and fuel capacity limits, which keep you from running any longer. The longest we did at Sebring was around 1:45. I'm pretty well beat after driving that long. It causes one to lose focus after a while.

I want to be in, but I am still the only driver on my roster! Everybody is broke except me. I will probably just do some hill climbs this year.
Have some fun for me.

If you feel like the car will be ready, you could consider posting here and on the Chump and/or LeMons forums for additional drivers. It can be a bit of a gamble as to what type of drivers you get, but then again, only one guy (out of 5 of us) on our LeMons team had any racing experience at all, and that team was hand picked!

It may not be the route you want to go with an untested car, but it is an option.

I have been considering that route. I will start with this forum first to see how that goes. Thanks.

I just sold a ride in my car for the 24 hours at PBIR. $800 covers everything including the beer and food.
On another note, Congratulations to Frank, and Garey Martin for the article in the New Hot VW's mag. Great Job!

Hi Everybody,

Good example of why you should be sober when proof reading or selecting photos!

This is the first I've seen of the article. Other than myself being FANK instead of FRANK, and why run a main photo of #31 rather than the beautiful #14, all the rest looks good. Garey, without your photos we would not have been published.

I was deeply impressed with both the #14 and #43 cars and teams, and we're working hard to put Johan (aka YoDogg) up there with you guys at Daytona and Sebring this year.
