72 Ghia Turn Signal ?

Post by david58 »

Do both turn signal indicators flash when using the turn signals on a 72. I am thinking not. The hazards don't work either could that be why they both flash the signal lights on the out side are working properly. Also the LR tail light is wired wrong it is wired as the brake light. And the brake lights only work when you apply more pressure than you need to stop. I say this because I followed the guy home after working on his car and never saw brake lights and the LR tail light was super bright. When we got to his house the right Brake light was working when he pushed the brake pedal down. I am thinking it took more pressure than when he had applied the brakes when driving.
Hot, humid air is less dense than cooler, drier air. This can allow a golf ball to fly through the air with greater ease, as there won't be as much resistance on the ball.

On my 73( should be the same as 72 ) both indicator lights flash when using the turn signal in either direction, and my hazards work fine too.
I found a site a while back that showed the brake light switches disassembled, so it might be possible to take them apart and clean them, otherwise they need to be replaced and the brakes bled.

Unplug one stoplight switch at a time and I'm fairly certain that you'll find one isn't working. If the problem were hydraulic (one brake circuit not working up to snuff) the brake system warning light on the dash should be coming on when the brakes are applied.
On a Beetle there's only one t'signal indicator lamp. 'Ghias (like baywindow Type II, III, & IV) have two indicator lamps but they're wired in parallel so both flash when signalling either way.
