103mm forged pistons?

Post by karmghia70 »

does anyone sell just 103mm pistons? I bought the MSHP 103 six stud pistons and stupidly got cast pistons. I would like to get forged ones before I assemble the motor.

JE sells the forged pistons which Eurorace provides. Go direct to JE. John Connolly can probably purchase from JE. Venolia, Wiseco, and a few others might make something the correct size.

103s or 104s? My MSHP six stud stuff is 104. I have discussed getting pistons made with J.C. at aircooled.net and you could probably piggy back your order with mine thru aircooled. What say, John?
Have you checked your cylinders for taper and roundness? Do so if you haven't. That was a big reason MSHP folded. Mine are out of round and tapered but fixable as long as I get a piston large enuf so the shop I am using can fit the barrel to the piston.

Do you have the torque spec for the 2 extra studs?

Tom, I do not have the torque specs, but I do remember reading a copy of a magazine article stating a different torque spec was used. I know, I'm not helpful Image Aren't the little itty bitty 6mm bolts, but high grade with aircraft style heads like an ARP rod bolt? I would imagine maybe 12 Foot Pounds? You don't want to pull the thin honed cast wall out of round by torquing too much!
