Getrdone's GETR181

Offroad VW based vehicles have problems/insights all their own. Not to mention the knowledge gained in VW durability.

The rear arms. I am hoping these will be strong enough. Denny's has an extra internal rib and a bit more meat in the web area. These arms are the same track as the front. So I decided to back off on wheelbase with the extra track width. Don't need to get too crazy on arm size. We decided to make Denny's rear track a bit narrower to help with the toy hauler.

Well, I will finish welding up the rear arms and that will be it for awhile as I will have reached my goal of getting to waiting for roller status. Building two cars is a lot of work, and if I hadn't gotten mine to this point, it may not of happened. At least now it's an actual project. Still trying to figure out a floor. So far it's looking like a single piece of 6061 bolted in. I had consider welding in a floor....dinner!

Theoretically- if you were building a beam car- would you still use square tube for the outer rails?

It's a half dozen which way or the other. Given the design of a beam frame I would run the tube up to the beam.........but I did see a beam car with sheet metal front frame that was badass!

Looks like a 091 and a Honda something or other. But if anyone is scraping a mendi and ls6 I suppose it will work. I am leaving the engine decisions to my certified master accredited and bonified mechanic. I am hoping for more power than my 2276 but not more than the 091.

I assume this pan replacement structure is something that you've got all designed somewhere and could easily replicate? Are you taking orders?

It is hard to tell in the photos, but does the front come all the way forward to where the original "firewall" was?

I didn't see, but I assume you've just got some tabs that come off the box sides to bolt through for the body?

PM sent, bitchin work.

True, the jig the my car is on now is specifically for this project. I believe I may have more foot room than stock-but not by much.

Man why would you want to run a crappy 091 when a subaru 5 speed is oh so much nicer and then you can run a nice EJ series engine, factory flywheel, factory clutch, factory shift ..... I see you thing buddy just sold one to go Honda ....... I even know a guy just up the road with a pile of EJ's just waiting to be used as Setup engines to keep you moving

Keep detailed notes on that setup, that is the way I would like to go. I am sure Baja5 has that already in the works though.
