lack of Type 4 knowledge

Post by Mike G. »

Hello I am 27 years old, been a VW addict since I was 4 and am currently building a 12sec cal look 67 bug. Looking for a 411 or 412 2 or 4 door fastback, but living in the rust belt have not seen one loclaly in years. Wher can I find out more-crash test results, road tests, etc? Hated them until recently, now for some reason i gotta get one. How old is the average 411/412 owner here? Soory I am currently a T4 dummy but I'm willing to learn!BTW-how do they drive? Are they reliable? Are they at all like a Beetle or Type 3? Thanks all for you patience! Saw a super clean 412 wagon at VW Classic in CA owned by a blonde girl-anyone seen this hottie and her mint VW?

Mike,
I don't know if you've checked out the sister site to this forum, but if you haven't it would be a great place to start on your journey in the 411/412 world. :-) The URL is http://www.tunacan.net/t4corner/index.shtml
This is the new site and is about 90% done.

I have a Road & Track data sheet of their evaluation of the Type 4 in Feb '71. It's in the History section at this URL: http://www.tunacan.net/t4corner/history ... 71_1.shtml
If anyone else has a copy of a magazine review of the Type 4, I'd really like to know, and if it'd be possible to get a scan or photocopy. It would be appreciated.
