411/412 daily driver info
Still looking for a 411/412 2 door(MAYBE 4 door)-looking for using it as an everyday car as my 67 cal look bug is not allowed out in the winter or to be left out of sight, and my 2000 Chevy G3500 work van is great for my job as a plumber, but totally sucks for getting around to say the least(8.5mpg, way too big, etc). I cannot remember the last time I have seen Type 4 around here, so my question is are these reliable cars? Are they good for daily driving-decent performance, highway stability, comfortable, etc? Good heat and a/c? Also still seeking info as far as crash test data, long term tests, comparison tests, etc. Thanks for any replies.

Good luck I have been looking for a Type4 for a while. Anyone who has a Silver Sunroof 411 or 412 let me know. Steve

A good 411/412 makes a great daily driver - I know, I drive one every day!
They're comfortable (big adjustable seats), handle well (even better if lowered and fitted with wider wheels), go fast (100mph easy) and are reliable if maintained. Some have petrol heaters (wouldn't trust these) but heat from T2 heat exchangers is good. As for a/c you have a two speed fan! Apparently they are one of the safest aircooled VWs to have a crash in (due to the massive front crumple zone).
Its worth driving a 411/412 around for the looks alone - I've learned to lip read "what the f***s that?"
