My 412, with the help of everyone on this forum is up and running. Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou. Ray and Roland were especially helpful as was Cliff. The problem turned out to be deteriorating wiring. I have really learned alot...For an old lady. Now my son has his drivers license, and I'm not sure I want him to drive my new baby. Of course, it's still primer gray, and the seats are in bad need of reupholstry, but I LOVE THIS CAR!!!!! and I want one of those cute little sedans someone posted. Cool car.

herr sparky, I drive a 73 412 two door. Let me know what you are looking for. I have a lot of sources. About the only cars more rare than 2 doors with 4-speeds are type 3 ghias and hebmuellers. Whenever you find 4 speed trannies, no matter what the condition...these are like gold and fit nothing else. Congrats! m504. What was the specific change that fixed you? I have some more connector part #'s ...almost ready to attack this thing ...give me a ring. Ray

That's too bad about the rarity of the 2-door 4spd... I passed one up about 2 years ago. Man it was beat, the engine overheated, stank of mildew, had an unsavable dash pad, no paint. But the tranny was SOLID (about the only thing good on it)

The poor thing died on me 3 times during the test drive. And the dude was asking for $1200. I was about to counter at $250, but I figured he'd be a little t'd off.

If I spot one, I'll let you know. They do show up in the boneyards here occasionally.

The Auto tranny is the rare one over this side of the pond. The manual 4speed was the norm.

Wiring, and more wiring. I got a spare set so I can make a new harness whilst the old one is in the box.

Still working on parts. I want a good one, nice and fresh, like a bath after a day working outdoors in the rain.
