Help!
I don't know how it happened, but one of my rear doors (4-door 412) is locked shut. I have tried the child-safety lever to no avail. Nothing I do opens this up!
The only literature I can find with this kind of body work is the hundred dollar micro-fiche on cd-rom which I would get if it were available for Mac.
Is there someone out there that would print me the pages pertaining to this problem?
Or, if anyone knows a person in Los Angeles that could fix this for me, that'd be great. I already took it to an all-around VW guy, and he couldn't do it.
Any help is so appreciated!

Help! Door locked shut!
One of two things has happened. Either the door lock rod is stiff and bending when you try to pull it open....and hence not unlocking...or the "finger" that contacts the plate with the nocth and opens the lock has either broken, is very worn, or has come unscrewed so it does not move when you press the trigger. From the inside, remove the plastic "dish" the door opener latch. Remove the screw that holds the black or chrome bezel on. See if the hooked rod is attached to anything inside the door. If so, carefully remove the door latch from the rod. Remove the two 10mm bolts that hold the latch to the door first. First thing to try, is see if pulling the rod moves the latch. Next look throgh the latch hole with a penlight toward the locking mechanism. You may spray some WD40 through the little tube, onto the mechanism and see if it comes unstuck. Next thing, if all else fails, is to remove the inside door panel. You may not be able to get the whole thing loose cause the door is closed, but you will be able to get you hand inside to trip the latch. If you pry carefully on the door panel...you will be able to simply snap it back on. You will probably find one of the above things wrong, or that the child safety latch is gummed uo and in between on and off setting. Ray
