How far should you go?

Post by nick sparrow »

I have been running my 412LS on D-jet injection, with 96 octane fuel, my question is how many MPG (miles per gallon) should I get on a full tank of fuel. I currently am getting around 160-175 miles around town and short trips and about 190-225 miles on long trips?, does this sound about right or is it low. Just looking for a ballpark idea.thanks

The wagons get a little less mpg. All of the 441/412 get their best gas milage in the 75 mph on hwy range. With no wind...which is rare...my weekend trips to OKC from Dallas tend to use 3/4 of a tank each way for 228 miles. Thats right at 8 gallons...which is about 28-29 mpg. In city...I get about 19. The gearing of the 4 speed is tough in traffic. But...really helps above 70 mph. At 85 mph...it begins to use more fuel. You are probably running a little rich...or need a little better ignition, ignition timing or exhaust. But overall you are about average for the average type 4. Ray
