I have children around me too, and I get the same looks. I let the little ones crawl all over the rail like a jungle-gym. The pre-teens think it's the coolest thing ever, you know, like ?Big Dave wrote: Funny though. There was a family with a small boy, about 4 or so, moving in across the street when I went to load the car up last night. When he saw the car, it was like he was in a trance and couldn't stop staring. You could tell he had never anything like that before. Of course I made sure it made plenty of noise too

What's going on with the car Dave? Were you able to make a good rack out of the two broken ones, or will it need a complete new rack?

Re: Dave's perpetual project
Haven't updated this in a long time, but I haven't done much to the car either.
One of my rear shocks was leaking a bit and they all needed a valving adjustment, so I pulled them all off and sent them to FOA. Turns out, one of the top spring perches was cracked pretty bad, so I told JD to overhaul them all to current specs with billet parts, blah, blah.
When I bled the N2 off of the rezzy of the one that had been leaking, it just started hemmoraging oil from the bottom cap. I wasn't expecting that
I mean it was really pouring out. I don't understand how having 190 PSI kept it from leaking much. Anyway, I hope they are back before too long so I can take it to the Wendover race next month.
On another note, I drove it to the No Show a couple weeks ago and it was running like crap. It would just start running on three cylinders for a bit, then pick it back up. This went on for a few miles until I got to the next gas station. I then managed to put 21.5 gallons of gas in a 22 gallon tank. It ran great after that

I plan to be there with or without the car. I think I know a couple guys that will need a pit crew.
I'm not going to race since I have zero safety equipment or a decent GPS. I would like to pre run the course though.

You can have Mrs. Big Dave telling when you are driving unsafely and when you missed a turn. Problem solved.Big Dave wrote: I have zero safety equipment or a decent GPS.

What does it do?

I like that you can get lost, but keep an eye on how far it is back to the gas station. Or when the ETA equals when you have to be there, you can start following it there.

Not quite. She just laughs hysterically when I am blinded by dust and drive off the trail at full clip...meanwhile in my seat a little poo just came out.Devastator wrote:You can have Mrs. Big Dave telling when you are driving unsafely and when you missed a turn. Re: Dave's perpetual project
So the past month the car has been running great and we put quite a few miles on it with no problems.

That was until today
After our run though the Barry Goldwater bombing range down near the border and back, we stopped for ice-cream and as I walked around the car, the light was just right and I noticed something amiss.

Luckily we were only a few paved miles away from home, so after the beating we had already put on it, I figured it would make it. I figure I can force it back into shape, weld it back together, then make a gusset that wraps around the plate steel and runs down the bottom side of the tube to give me a much longer weld area to keep it from happening again.

can't fix it if you don't first break it!

Nice catch for sure. This is an awesome pic!

Collecting parts again... No I'm not going to say why!
