oil pick up in the WBX block

Post by pocketrocket »

Thought I would share the pictures of how I install a oil pick up in my WBX HP drag and street engines. I do not do this on my Waterboxer builds. To get the pick-up down in the bottom of the sump area. The pick up is a for a small block chevy. They can be bought on ebay mine cost $18. (look up pick-up SBC) I used a piece of tubing from the stock WBX pickup cut and ground it to go on the top of the SBC pickup, drilled a new hole on top, plugged the hole from the side from the SBC tube.

Made the tube just long enough to cover the hole in the block that gos to the oil pump oil relief, then drilled a 1/4 hole can be seen in 2nd picture for the relief to dump into the sump not back into the oil pickup. sealed it with JB weld. (Tencent has done the tube covering the relief hole mod and covered it in a diff thread.) Made a hold down with steel strap and the stock bolt and copper seal. It works great. Rocky

Would the jb weld make the oil pickup a permanent fixture to the block.

No with a little heat you could take the tube out if you had to.
