Anyone know what the thread size and pitch is of the gland nut holding on the oil filler/road draft tube?
Thanks in advance

Re: Thread size
That was a challenge...it's not given in any of the many manuals I have around my room (although I didn't bother to get dressed to check all the ones in the shop)
I found the torque spec (40 lb-ft) in a Type II Bentley and the P/N (113 115 495) in an old parts book...after considerable searching I found a post at theSamba saying m32x1.5.
A gland nut is m28x1.5, you should be able to use one for a reality check on that.

Re: Thread size
Never thought to measure the oil filler gland nut itself..........
Have a batch of aftermarket alt. stands with bad threads.
Trying to convince the vendor to credit me with enough $$ to buy a tap and fix them myself rather than send them back.
Can get a 32x1.5 tap for around $40 with shipping.
Thanks Marc.

Re: Thread size
I just use a 1" internal pipe wrench - always works, even when the flange is broken. I like to use a SP intake manifold gasket coated with RTV instead of the stock paper gasket, and this wrench lets you crank down gewd to crush it.

So I'm not the only one that uses SP intake gaskets for that application.

I've been using the single port gaskets since I was instructed to in 1995 by my Father. He was told of this detail in 1966 by his mentor and a formula vee Racer (who's tool boxes and specialty tools I have!).BAJA-IT wrote:So I'm not the only one that uses SP intake gaskets for that application.
