weber 40 help
hey guys, this will be my first post on here although ive looked around for quite a while. I am in no way new to aircooled but i am new to this weber 40 idf i picked up, as im used to dealing with the 34 pict. Im wondering if anyone has any info on jetting with it, and getting it to run right? I bought it to use with my upcoming 1835 build, i mounted it on my 1641 and tried to see if it was running descent. i can barely get it to idle and when i do its very rich, and if im going down the road it acts fine barely cruising but when you go WOT it falls on its face. i found a jetting chart from cb performance for a single weber, just wondering if anybody else had any info? thanks guys

Re: weber 40 help
The best write up I have seen is from John C of ACN, he is fan on the center mount progressive and 90% of what advises is also true for the “non-progressive” like what you have. His awesome set of how to's start here: http://www.aircooled.net/vw-carburetor- ... ction-101/
This thread going on thesamba; http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=386388 while centering on the other weber is worth reading as everything he says about proper manifold heat applies to you.
But the short answer is the last thing one does is change jets, it is more important to the get the rest correct first.

Yeah some may call it overkill, but you can't have too much overkill.

The CB jetting chart you were talking about?
http://www.cbperformance.com/SearchResu ... 52#jetting
That seems like a sane start, I think F7 are prefered over F11
