Can anyone confirm EMPI rear disc brake set up
Ok I installed some Empi rear disc brakes with e-brake, the one marked with an R I put on the drivers side which put the e-brake cable on the top side the bleeder at the top and the feeder on the bottom. But another sheet of paper that came with it shows it the other way around, e-brake on the bottom feeder on top and bleeder under that. So which way is right?????
Thanks
John

Right and left are common used in relationship to the driver while seated. So "R" brake would be the passenger side.
Yeah some may call it overkill, but you can't have too much overkill.

Ok, so I'll turn them around and have the e-brake on the bottom side.
Thanks

It's a north American beetle so lhd.
I've tried to do a search on how others did it but I've seem them done both ways so didn't really help.

Re: Can anyone confirm EMPI rear disc brake set up
Also I did find this on a different forum
I called Empi, the guy I talked to suggested that I install the calipers the wrong way with the bleeder screw down(to see if the e-brake fits any better) which would put the e-brake on the bottom side. For bleeding purposes, he said I would have to loosen the caliper and rotate 180 degrees to bleed.
So to me this sounds wrong if I have to loosen the caliper when I need to bleed the system.

I have mine with the e-brake bracket on the top, don't remember how I came to that conclusion though.

I'm pretty sure when I did a set about 10 years ago I had them on top as well. I did write Empi last week and asked but as of yet no one has returned my email.

Please let me know how this comes out, as I was just looking at the same kit.

I just installed some EMPI rear disc brakes on my '68 Beetle. I have the e-brake cables at the top, which also positions the bleeder at the top (apologies for the poor quality of the iPhone pics):

yeah pretty sure i decided based on bleeder location. also the e-brake I don't think reaches, I had to make custom cables.
