Rorty V8 Midmount Spaceframe

Post by bratjie »

A few years ago I purchased a set of Rorty plans to build a spaceframe midmount engine for a Type 1 Beetle, I obtained a Nice Ghia left hand drive but was subsequently told that it was a 58 front end and 59 rear end, so I reckon it's not worth restoring but rather making a track car out of it, as I dont know too much about Ghia's I was wondering if the pan structure was possibly the same as a Type 1, if so I can build the spaceframe and with some mods maybe plant the Ghia's body onto the spaceframe, as the spaceframe is built for the Type 1 to fit perfectly onto it. Would like to plant a V8 midmounted into it,

Any suggestions please?

the center section of the pan is the same, the pans themselves are wider than a beetle. so you would have to make the frame wider to accept a ghia body. defiantly doable in my opinion.

The front of the pan is a different shape also.

I would like to buy these plans if anybody has some for sale. My next Bonneville Ghia project will be a mid engined Audi V 10 TDI 550 hp 1500 ft.lb. torque monster in a bid to break 200 mph.

Why not get them directly from Rorty himself?
