Trouble with this is I don't have a connector so I can't hot swap it. Does anyone know where to find that pigtail? I checked the brushes and they look fine so I got a new reg. I hate to re-splice another in just for it not to work and me kill the warranty. Connector on the Alt is a three pin and connector on the regulator side is 3 pin in the shape of a T.Piledriver wrote:Buy a spare regulator....

Re: Electrical charging system issue
If it's an external regulator, I used a T4 (solid state) regulator and pigtail when my sons new T1 alt took a dump after 30 minutes. Either O'Reillys or Autozone have them with a liftetime warranty, or not, same actual part, different price and number on the box.
(I actually grafted into an internally regulated alt, wired it to the existing brush holder and epoxy-puttied to secure a T4 pigtail on)

zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

Autozone claimed to not have the pigtail for the regulator last night. I guess I could just get a few molex and wire all as that connector. I just can never return them. I guess if they're both still good I officially have a backup.

The "proper" mating pigtail is a junkyard item,(I happened to have a handy spare T4 alternator w/pigtail attached) but the 3 pin on the reg contains std 1/4" spades, so you can simply plug in the 3 wires with the matching insulated spades crimped on and leave the regulator 100% unmolested, and warrantee returnable. Note: They tend to full field when they die. Perhaps feed them cool air from the 1/2" purge line on the r side of the fan housing if yours has it.
