4x130 pcd Wheels

Post by Alby »

Hi All,
What wheel options are available for 4x130 pcd size?

I'm looking for 15 - 17 in size 6-7j width for a track / hill climb car (1303 with type 4 2270)

Am I going to have to switch to 5x130 and associated Porsche components?

I would like to keep to the standard 4x130 if possible using lighter braking and suspension components :D

Not saying this to be rude at all...Do a Google search on images. I do it all the time while I've been planning my son's 1303 build up. I've been trying to find a modern-ish wheel that a high school kid will think is cool looking, yet maintain the 4x130 pcd. There are quite a few styles, but the selection is somewhat limited due to VW Beetles (and related cars like Early Porsche 914s and onter aircooled VW products)being the only car to use that PCD. There's always the option of contacting a wheel builder and having the wheel custom drilled, however, the 130mm bolt circle is on the biggish side, so some wheels simply cannot physically have a bolt circle that size.

You could also change the drums and rotors to 4x100, 5x100 not just Porsche and VW patterns. When you do that, it opens up way more options.Image

Revolution made some nice 15-17"x7 wheels in the right offset, so did Minilite, but not as big IIRC.
(more commonly used on 914s)
The other bolt patters do offer a huge array of options though.

I have lusted after the SSR hot forged 8lb 15x7s on a WRX or three.
(Not a huge "big wheel" fan, anything over 17s are usually stupid heavy and functionally useless)
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

Many thanks for the feedback all 8)

I like the revolutions but I'm not sure if they still making them , will email and ask!

I have seen some German wheels called HTN which look great ! The website looks quite out of date though so I'm not sure they are an active producer ! They look great though

Quite keen on the ATS although have no idea if the 7 j version would fit standard wings

I was trying to determine optimum wheels for a race Ghia a couple of years ago. I considered available 4x130 and modern non-4x130 alloys. There was no obvious answer to me with the more limited Ghia clearances, however, you should have an easier time on a Beetle. Modern alloy wheels tend to be wide and offset so much that they hit the suspension. I am going to revist the issue when I get back to the project, but I was thinking that custom steel wheels would be the way to go. There are wheel makers who cut out your steel rim centers and weld them into new rim outers according to your offset and width specifications. The cost (at least in Pennsylvania, USA) was affordable for anyone who can buy new alloy rims. The weight is not a big deal to me because I am not trying to be nationally competetive and most alloys are heavy anyway. The custom steel option is especially good for staggering, which is what I want. If I recall, I planned on using Porsche 914 4x130 5.5" width steel rims up front and a custom rim in the rear (probably 6.5") along with some fender work. It is hard to find affordable performance tires that can even fit on a rim as narrow as 5.5" :(
