Hi guys and girls I have not introduced myself on here before but my name is Chris but you can call me fabo:-).I'm from Australia and live on the west side of OZ.I've been racing in hill climbs,supersprints,autokhana etc for a few years now and have just finished my new car as I wrote my last one off at slow speed with driver error,dahh!!!! So here is some quick snippets of me taking it for its second "first one lasted 5 laps" test n tune at barbagallo raceway....I'm still running my 3 year old semi's that have had it and my brakes feel like I'm stepping on a kitchen sponge but for now that's OK with me...competition season starts Feb next year so I'm aiming to have my new rubbuer by then....feel free to ask any questions..

The in-car video shows me a well-sorted suspension and the engine sounds strong. Your driving technique is also smooth, yet you get the shifts in on time.

As you may know, stateside, we campaign a 1973 Super Beetle in 14-hour enduro road course races which means low compression rev-limited strokers, and a 1965 Ghia in Historic Sportscar racing. That means high-compression high RPM sprint engines.

Tell us about your car -- swing axle? Ball joint front end? Brakes? Engine type(s)?

Hi guys, before I forget I'm not exactly sure but I think it was some ford falcon fairlane not sure what model but it was a Aussie historic/classic race car of some description...I'll try find out....

My car is a 69 beetle semi auto converted to manual...std bj spindles just adjusters in the beam,HD bilsteins all round,made my own chromoly adj sway bars with alluminium blades,gearbox has close albins gears with a zf, fiberglass bonnet,bumper,kamei and rear guards,perspex windows but glass windscreen.I have cut a lot of the inner skin out of the shell,6 point cage,10ltr alloy tank.

Engine is a Stan pobjoy built 1916cc ,1915 to u guys German crank with pobjoys counterweights,Kroc ported street slims,10.5 comp,48 IDF's,twin plug heads,cb2289 cam,AA p&b's,mag case,cb dry sump pump,2 13 row oil coolers up front,dry sum tank passenger floor..never taken it to the dyno or drags but will eventually...

Brakes are late 80's ? Holden commodore vented rotors and sliding calipers with alloy hub up front.and t3 rear drums with comp linings...with a kombie master cylinder and hydrolic handbrake...same brakesnas in my last car but for some reason they feel spongy as poop ATM..maybe a bit of air still in the lines or the drums with the hydro handbrake are not friends because if I pull up my brake just a tad the brakes are rock solid..

Still using a steering box but am using rose joints at the outer tie rods with a 14mm bolt and have shimmed up or down for bumpsteer...

Running 195/50 yokie AO50 tyres that are way past expiry date...will get the same but in softs or looking at the hankook Z214's but they are a bit taller...

As in any race a car there is still things I'd like to do,lighter front brakes and same rear, brake balance bar,custom shocks,move my seat a bit more towards the tunnel and yep more power,lol...either a t1 69x4" or a t4 of some configuration...

Just curious, what diameter and length are your rear torsion bars? Also could you post some pictures of your adjustable sway bars? Sounds interesting.

sorry guys, paint is laguna seca blue and my torsions are 28mm dia and the long torsions....pics I will try later, when I mean try im a bit of a spaz on the putters...

Very swift bug you have!

That engine pulls really well! I was surprised to see that it is only 1916cc. It seems to perform better than some much larger stroker motors!
What rpm do you red line or change gear at?

Hey Dan,I shift at 7500-8000....sometimes earlier depending but I like revs,lol.....

.... the hankook Z214's but they are a bit taller....

It sounds like you're running out of R's on the straight. A taller tire will fix this.
