Tubular Front Controls arms for SuperBeetle(1303)

Post by vw1303 »

Finally finished my tubular front control arms for my Superbeetle(1303).

This version allows for 25mm roll centre correction. Made in Chromoly.
Length is adjustable from 0-+50mm wider than stock.
3/4" Chromoly Heim joints at both ends.

Would anyone be interested in a set?

Probably a heck of a lot stronger than stock, but what is the difference in weight?

When introducing things like chromoly heim joints and the chromoly roll centre adjustment they were heavier than the stock arms.
I will be bringing these arms and my car to the track this sunday to give them a proper test

So how did they work?
Will they work with 944 front spindles?
How much?
Are we there yet?

RandyJ would you want a set if I break down and build some? I am back trying to get the convert running after storing it since we moved from Austin almost 10 years ago. Let me know what you think and I will see what my in house guy will charge for week end work...

Hey Randy,

Yea, I would be interested in a set. Let me know how much you think it would cost.
Too bad you are not still in Austin.

Getting a group order ready on Germanlook. Will start machining them after Sept 1. Let's talk if you want a set because I doubt I will build more than one run of them.

Thanks,
Randy

Coleman Racing makes custom suspension links ~reasonably if you have the dimensions.
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.
