82MM stroker x 90.5 with Engle w110 cam

Post by beetlemn73 »

15 years ago I purchased a GEX engine. In the last 2 years, I did not drive it cause of worsening oil leaks. I pulled the engine and found multiple problems. One biggy was the cam. So I ordered a new Engle w110 and the 2nd cam lobe from the front hits the crank. I sent it to Engle for the to clearance (base circle) and same problem. I have checked and double checked the index points on the gears. What's the best solution here?

Clearance the crank until the cam doesn't hit it.

Ditto. It's a shame you bought the eng from gex, quality junk at its best.

All I can say is it made it around 36K miles in abt 12+ years. In tearing it down I can see all the shortcuts and "junk" that was used to put it together. I feel let down thinking I was getting decent quality back then. I appreciated the feedback and suggestion. I will clearance the crank.

I was going to spend more $$ to get a cam with shorter lobes...then thats more $$.
