Car getting rebuild , advice on clutch pls

Post by John_S »

car is getting major strip down and rebuild , body is off the pan, tidy high pressure fuel lines ect.. im even putting in a bolt in fia / msa roll cage (just because )
car is 1964 bug - 2276cc turbo runnning megasquirt ms2 , approx 225 - 250bhp with 1 bar wastegate spring
im going to run with different pedal assemble (EMPI double master brake assemble and hydraulic clutch ).
now i currently run a kennedy stg 2 pressure plate and empi cush lock friction disk BUT if i launch hard in 1st it slips and ive had it slip in 2nd last time i did a 1/4 mile attempt.
due to going hydraulic im gunna put a stg 3 plate in (or a stg4) but its what friction disk ?
one of my parts people over here suggested i run the cb friction disk (approx £140 ) as it copper on the one side.
i also need advice on shocks ( dampers ?)
im open to discuss and suggestions ?

I'm betting the disc is glazed, heck my stage 1 and a 4 puck holds just fine
U can try to de-glaze the pressure, and get a sprung center 4 puck?

I'd be spending a little more money on the brake/clutch setup. ;)

4 pucks suck in a street car. Unless of course this isn't a street car...

Hey Chip, Maybe it's the "spring center"?? But the one I have feels just like a stock disc
Kind of shocked/suprized me   as I was expecting a Grabbie launch this first drive

Agree on that one.I tried the 'black magic" & hated it.I run a stage III, long clutch arm & Art Thraens disc now with great results.Tough on cables though.lol

I have a stage 3, long arm, and an ACE Diamond back too! Mine hasn't hurt my cable, but it did break the tube out of the tunnel.

LOL...I replace the cable every year, use it or not.I keep cables & sleeves in stock. That setup works slip/chatter-free forme, & I run high boost (24 psi street on a 2234).Love it.
