New Baja weld in front clip.

Offroad VW based vehicles have problems/insights all their own. Not to mention the knowledge gained in VW durability.

Could adjusters be welded in to run stock tortion springs?

I would say no. It's designed for four over arms and torsions would not work with those. The design is specific to coil over and longer arms.

Note that the original Wright +4 front arms were made for torsion leaves. Just to be

Most all of the long arms now sold are made for coilovers and thus have round holes for the through rods. Getting the holes broached for square torsion leaf stacks would cost a bit. It's much less expensive for the arm manufacturers to make round holes.
