'73 Thing repair in New England?

I have a 90-year-old acquaintance who owns a 1973 Thing in Beverly, Mass. He has a slow oil leak and I'm trying to find someone in New England (or as close as possible) who is willing to check it out for repair. I've contacted a VW dealer and a few independent shops that aren't willing to take a shot at repair. Where does one go, maybe in New England, for Thing repairs? Any information would be deeply appreciated!
