greetings everyone, has much as i would like to think i'm prepared for the possible breaking of 30 year old parts on my westy , things seem to happen at the worst time. i was running late to take my son to his soccer game with my elderly mother in my bus, when at a busy intersection the light turns green and my gas pedal goes to the floor [ broken accelerator cable ] i tell my mom and my son don't worry i can fix it. i grab some needlenose pliers and a few other tools tun on my hazard lights open my engine lid and it broke a half inch short of the carb, cars and suvs are having to drive around me and none of them look too happy about it , when a local vw mechanic pulls in behind me , i tell him what happened he pulls out a accell. cable for a bug cuts it ties it to my broken one and i,m off to the soccer game only five mins. late . my son said how lucky we were to have someone stop and help and i agree and add that it seems for the most part people who have had or still own vw,s are more willing to take the time to help someone in need.......later people.............jeff
