Put the Type 1 cooling tin on, I suggest, otherwise you aren't going to get a proper seal around the engine bay, are you?

This will work if the case is universal. Early T-3 cases were T-3 specific. Later and replacement cases were universal. Look to see if the dipstick filler tube is flanged to the case.
The T-3 intake manifolds and linkage will probably need to be replaced as well.
Tale it down to the long block and put all your upright stuff on it. Good luck. Bob Ingman

i've just built an engine for a guy who gave me a type 3 case to do it with. if it's a t3 case, as bob mentions, there will be a large (1 1/2")hole at the rhs of the engine. this is what the t3 uses for an oil filler. you can buy a modification dipstick that bolts up here, its an empi part, and all the ones i've had experience with leak. i've ended up re-engineering them to make them oiltight.the t3 case does not have a dipstick tube in the t1 place, neither does it have an oil pressure switch at the place a t1 block does. it bolts to the oil cooler, when the t1 timware is fitted to the engine, it's pretty inaccessible. i'd go with t1 cooling, as the t3 pulld air from the rear of the engine, and i dont know whether there would be problems with that.
