40mm Weber IDF draw through turbo intake?
I have been reseraching doing a cheap Turbo build on a 1600 single port and happen to have a pair of 40MM downdraft Weber carbs but I have been reading here and can not find anything for a draw through downdraft Weber carb set up? Mostly 2 and 4 barrel holley intakes.
Thank You for any help on this.

You are probably going to have to make your own intake. I've seen plenty of side draft weber intakes I dont know if you could get one for a side draft(if it has the same flange) and use a 90° coupler and support brackets for the carb of course

How bout buying some hats for them and blow through them? It's probably a better design anyway.

I wonder how much, if any, an intercooler is compared to the icing affect of draw through. My intake was COLD When I had it running.
I guess I could have grabbed the intake after the turbo to see how hot it was.
I've been reading about how some people inject water into the turbos to cool the compressed air too. Had never heard of that before.

It's a single port, I haven't seen idf single port intakes beforebuguy wrote:How bout buying some hats for them and blow through them? It's probably a better design anyway.

As a blow through one could just use solex 34 center section adapter like;
http://www2.cip1.com/ProductDetails.asp ... e=C13-3237

to make one IDF fit like is done on dual ports.

Yeah some may call it overkill, but you can't have too much overkill.

Thank You and heck I am sure many will be happy to see that adapter kit from a duel to a single port end casting kit. But I would still have to purchase the center section and a hat.
I would have thought the draw through set up would be cheaper and easier to do?
Or heck I may have to either think about biting the bullet and getting a Holley 390CFm 4 barrel or one of the Holley 2 barrel carbs and run with that or of course make my own intake for the Weber.

Draw through will be cheaper and easier. And making an intake is fairly easy to do. But if you did go with some other carb you would be able buy something pre made if you don't have the time or ability to make one yourself. Personally I like the Holley stuff because I can get parts anywhere. Very simple to work with.
A 2 barrel Holley is easier to set up than a 4 barrel too in my opinion. If I we're starting fresh (and I may anyway) I have think I would try one of those Percy's adjust a jets too. Would make life way mor simple tuning. Also you have to have to have to get a wideband. I have a few extra Holley carbs if you decide to go that route.

Yeah I had just never heard of using it to spray specifically into the turbo to cool things.
