Viscosity
When I got my new 74' 914, I read the owners manual which indicated a viscosity of straight 30 weight oil(moderate outside temps). However, everyone I speak to or read about on various forums uses 20w50 oil. Can someone tell me why there was such a dramatic change from factory standards? I can't even get 20w50 from Autozone anymore- would have to mail order it-Thanks-Rolf

15W50 MOBIL 1 from Walmart (uhg I know) has 5 quart jugs for 25 bucks. It is high in ZDDP.

Isn't Mobil 1 synthetic? Is that good for my 914?
