BACK TO THE TRACK FOR 2019

RetroRacing's new season begins first weekend in February at Barber for a LeMons 14-hour endurance race featuring the Mad Max post-apocalyptic Blitzwagen (1973 Super Bug), for a warmup, followed by a test day at Barber for our sleek silver Historic Sports Car Ghia on 11 Feb, to prepare for 25-28Apr19; HSR Mitty Road Atlanta, and 17-19May19; for the HSR Barber Historics.

And, our plans look good for co-driving Bonneville in August with multiple record holder Mike Ortiz in his 1968 Ghia.

Just to be sporting, our Ghia will race the high-dollar Brit, Italian, and Austrian under 2-litre cars with a dry-sumpted fresh 85.5x74 AS-41 cased high-rpm terror on Lucas Classic Hot Rod oil, and 1.25 high-lifts and an Engle 120 cam. The heads are AJ Sims with 40x35 valves and double springs. Weber 44IDF's on 36mm vents feed all this. A 1-5/8" header system on a loud stinger exhausts it.

Last year at the Mitty we flattened a cam lobe running Rotella diesel oil plus ZDDP (!) which led us to Lucas, and we ran a few other events on it. No problem. Lucas Classic is not advertised as racing oil, but for us it has worked.

Hi FJC,

Looks like a nice schedule.

I've being running Valvoline 20W50 VR1 racing oil for over 20 years without any oil issues.

In my view it's not worth trying to save a couple a dollars per quart, after spending thousands on an engine.
