While my turbo is being worked on to give me more cfm ,I've been thinking about swapping out the 40 dells for some 48's.
The 40's flow 266 cfm per 40 mm buffer fly and the 48 does 388 cfm per butter fly.
So over 100 cfm flow gain.
Can this be quantified into a power increase. The carbs are money and lots of time, plus manifolds. Would it be worth the effort.
Is it possible to bore out 40's, probably not an economical thing to do is it.

I'm sure that could mean more power, but only if what you have is the choke point. If there are 2 butterflies per carb, that's over 500cfm per side. It's just a guess but I would think that would support 500 hp or so.

What about 45's? They may retain some of the throttle response needed on the street, 48's can be a bit "soft" in that regard unless you are into it (rpm wise)

Well 45's are certainly easier to find than the 48's.
Will think about it.
The 40's I have are using 36 vents ,Its still driving ok with these vents ,so not gone too big on vent size to notice any low down drop off in drivability, maybe machine the 36's to 38 and see what happens before going bigger carbs which have bigger vents than my present 36 mm vents.

My little turbo is rated at 390cfm which is about 270hp. I would think anything above that will start to deteriorate drivability.
