Can I use a floor pan from a beetle or a ghia for my Thing without modification?

`68-`74 Beetle/'Ghia tank should fit with no modification (early `68 had a weird oval inlet neck, those tanks are obsolete). `75-`78 FI Beetles had a larger outlet line but the smaller pipe/nut from the older tanks will fit them. Through late `73 'Ghias used a balance coil fuel gauge, their senders aren't compatible with the thermal gauge used in Beetles & Things.
Thing floorboards have the same overall shape as those from a `Ghia, but they have different "ribs" stamped in...'Ghia parts will fit if originality's not an issue to you.

Re: Thing Gas Tank
My thing fuel sender and gauge were inaccurate. Indication was a bit over half full when the tank was filled. I finally was able to obtain a new sender. However the indication remains exactly the same. Anything else I can do to get an accurate quantity reading? Is there any kind of adjustment I can make?
Thanks.
Thanks.

The parts manual list the fuel tank part number as 113- 201-075 AD which is a bug part number. Just received a new one and it fit perfectly. Also keep in mind that if you use the original type fuel sensor which uses a float it needs to be "calibrated" by bending the float rod.
