I put all 5'8" and 155 pounds of raging fury to it and it didn't really move. But a new one is $120. Not going to make or break me.

Oh Im going to keep it. Just don't know if I'm going to use it! If I could have gotten a trans seal before the weekend I "probably" would have thrown it back in this weekend. I put it through 20 minutes in the parts washer along with the disk. I can still smell the oil on the disk so I don't know if it would have worked or not. Who knows how long it will take to get new parts here now. Locally the soonest I could get a trans steal is Monday. It only takes a couple hours to toss in, so no huge loss if it doesn't hold or comes apart again. But I am buying all new. Going to get a TO bearing too. May as well make it all new.

Ok. New trans seal is in. Apparently the last seal was the wrong one. This one went in much more normally.
Plunked the engine back in tonight but someone took or tossed my Ultra Copper so I couldn't finish it. Plan to install the exhaust in the morning and the rest of the engine after work. Should be back on the road by Thursday. I'm going to take a better look tomorrow, but at a glance it looks like I'm nearly out of adjustment on the clutch. Might be time for a new cable.

Maybe your cable just super stretched?

Also I think I have a somewhat elegant answer for mounting a micro switch at the clutch.

It’s basically a stack of 3/16 aluminum tacked together. Sits right in front of the pedal assembly. Thanks planned on through bolting it through the floor pan with a backing plate.

I snapped a drill bit in it Monday so I need to cut some new chunks and tack them up.

I have been drilling multiple pieces of metal together lately and one of the things I found out was that less pressure on the bit; let the drill bit (sharpened properly of course) do the work at it's own speed. I was told this as a young punk many times but it is too easy to forget and forge ahead at speed then break bits or to have to start over  . Also if you have drilled pilot holes the cutting tangs on the drill bit can grab the next piece(s) of material in line which can move that material in the stack so you don't get the nice flat sided stack you may want.

For what it is worth... Lee

I was not letting the bit do the work and was in a hurry. Also it was a small bit not using a drill press,I was asking for it to break

Been there done that. Alot!
Engine is back in and running. Haven't driven it yet but the pedal still feels weird. I'm going to turn the adjuster in a bit more while its on the lift and hope it's good enough. I only hope the trans still shifts nicely. That would make it so much more fun to drive!
I should have taken a video. This thing sounds so good when it's fully cold. Sounds like it has a big lumpy cam in it! Always gets a crowd!
I can't imagine it changed it much but I'm really wondering if that little bump in compression helped. It sounds more crisp than it did before. More responsive.

Wow! An honest person!

Back in the late 60's and early 70's the airplane industry was going through some rough times so in order to not get laid off you had to look busy which a lot of us kind of solved by getting into and reading the different specs we put on the drawings and parts lists. One of the specs I read dealt with holes and was kind of interesting... learned a lot and since forgot a lot of what I learned   .

Stock(ish?) Sachs pressure plate + kush lock disk. Is that enough to hold on 1641cc 14psi turbo, engine is stockish otherwise? Only TCS-20 cam and Mahle forged pistons + some other goodies for durability.

Probably. My stockish set up held to about the same set up.

Dang I really wanted the 4 piston Wilwood caliper that airkewld sells, but at around $1200 for just the front, that's a little out of reach. I think I will stick with the $400 2 piston empi's. $350 for rears. I can deal with those.

Why rears? I feel like the cost and work isn’t really worth the gain?
