What's the best distributor setup?

Post by fredc125 »

I have an 009 centrifugal dizzy, burnt up the pertronics somehow, now running points. I would like to upgrade for next season and am looking for any recommendations. Thanks.

I like old school & easy.
I like and use the Bosch 010 or 019, the problem now their expensive, on occasion the can be had reasonably priced.
I have an 010 with a pertronix & matching coil with good plug wires, and basiclly trouble free.

The best at this moment imo (think this is a european consensus only though) is a 123 ignition, hands down.

They also have nice units now in conjunction with csp, programmable too.

The 123 is programmable too with the usb or bluetooth unit. There is more to it then meets the eye why they work so extremely well, but to each his own.

No worries mate!

I run the bluetooth unit in my notch as its also my rev counter, oil temp meter, live advance display and speedo (its a dash on my i-phone  )

Those are pretty slick. I remember them years ago but thought they were a gimmick.

Kinda pricey at $636 + tax in US. You may get what you pay for though.

Thats very pricy indeed. But question was ‘what is best’.
I paid 400 euro a few years ago for it. Smaller step to go full EFI which uses no dizzy at all (even better) as a consideration 😉

You US guys might find pricing a little more attractive here.

But on another note, I have a 010 and a German 009, what would be the consensus for a mild 2270 build?

The 010 without a doubt.

I have one of these 205D which are said to be the new 010. They came in the NSU 1600TT with a inline 4 rear engine, and were also installed in the factory built Type lV Super Vee motors.
