Case at cam bearing support broke a tiny piece

Post by pnikas »

Hello everybody, went a bit dumb today making a set of double thrust bearings by using 2 sets of normal bearings, with the known method of adding the tab in one bearing so it doesn't spin in the case. The bearing slipped and I managed to chip the case that was freshly mashined for cylinders and type 1 lifters. How can I repair that stupid mistake without throwing away the case of course or warping it ? Will running it like this cause problems ?

I, would just lightly clean up the sharp edges, and run it. It's not a load area for the bearing.

The dent on the other side might give you more problem if it pushes on the bearing, but cant see that chip doing any harm, unless the bit that came off went into an oil gallery
