Bay Window Bus Window seal AHHHHH!
ROFLMAO
You know, I've been wondering why my neighbor has been giving me a funny look every time he sees me! I guess before you break out the KY you need to make sure the neighbors are out of town!

Bay Window Bus Window seal AHHHHH!
I've installed several of these. You really need to have two people on the outside pushing it.The trick I use,is to use FOUR pieces of strong draperey cord, and over-lap it in four places around the seal. This way you can pull it in each corner a little bit at a time, and altenate side ti side. And DO NOT use any lubricant that is water -based! This starts the rust process immiediately!,and this is what you're trying to stop isn't it? I use spray silicone that you buy at the auto-parts store. One more thing,DON't slap the window AT ALL! unless you want to buy a new one.Paul

can u take the windshield out without destroying the rubber?...I have good rubber around my windshield...but one corner of the windshield rubber lip isnt seated right and it caused a leak and made my alarm go off at random...now that was fun!
can i just pop the window out and replace it properly?

About 20 years too late but thought I'd add for future readers, the factory used glycerine the kind you buy at the chemist, dish soap is salt based and will help rust form, I have always used mower pull cord nice size that wont tear the seal and has just enough texture to allow you to work the seal over the lip, two pieces over lapped mid way along the top and bottom allows you to work both edges, As to thumping on the glass, it depends on the type of windscreen, the old original style was tempered glass and as tough as nails, you can belt it with a rubber or rubber dead blow hammer, the new style will likely be laminated "safety glass" this is not tempered and very difficult to remove without cracking (always remove by cutting the seal) and I never hit with anything other than the heel of my hand when installing, they will crack if flexed too much.

I've always done the simple formula 2 people for flat windows, one inside the car and one out and 3 people for curved ones with steady pressure (don't ever bounce or force it in, let the cord do the work).
I was very surprised the other day to see 1 guy doing this windshield by himself in a 356 (at 15:45):
