So that got me thinking.
It'd be difficult, if not impossible to fit the entire FI system from not only a 1600DP 1bbl/center mounted throttle but to fit that to a Type 4 with a DTM fan shroud with seperate throttle bodies. It'd probably be best to stick with dual carburetors and use a Direct Ignition System.
Now naturally with every theorem, why? Surely there's better systems out there that requires much less engineering and are way more "bolt-on" and simpler tune-ability then using a aftermarket system paired to Vocho parts. Or god forbid finding some way to get OBD-1 into the system.
Now looking at the pros of the "why?" simply put affordability and over-the-counter VW parts, the late model Vocho used parts from other cars of the 80s-90s, jettas, passats, golfs all had a little bit of help in making the beetle look more plasticy and modern interior and engine bay wise. If a part should to go and break a trip down to your local VW Dealership for a 90s part and you're on your way.
Now I'm asking yall. Has anyone attempted this before? Would it even be possible to fabricate dual throttle bodies? FI TypeIV builds have been done already, could it be possible to have aftermarket dual TB paired to Vocho electronics?
Are there sources for Vocho system diagrams?
Of course the digifant system was designed for 1600 engines pushing 44hp, it'd need serious tuning to be able to deal with the Type4 for sure I'm not sure what type of sensors or in the vocho yet, but I do know it'd require CHT and a hall sensor considering they kept the distributor system but abandoned points and condensor in 1996.
What do y'all think?
