What's the widest wheels I could fit under stock bodywork on a '71 ? Anyone running 8" wide with a 53 offset ?

6.5 fit easily on most bodies, I have had 7's with 205/60R15 'just' fit after cutting on half the bump stop and using a C/S bolt on the front of a single IRS spring plate. unfortunately I can't remember the exact offset. Also, often a Ghia is different side to side due to manufacture error and no 2 are exactly the same. 8" will be a challenge, I had to modify the fender shape at the rear of the opening to get 8's under with 225's
let us know how you get on

I’ve researched elsewhere and found anything wider then 6” almost impossible without body mods which I don’t want to do. I guess I’ll not run a staggered set, and just have 6” wide on front and rear.

my 71 came with 6.5 on it...
wheels are fine, but the 195's have a bit of rub on full compression....
