Street Buggy

Post by oprn »

A few shots of our retirement 4 wheel retirement traveling motorcycle. I wanted a nice highway bike to tour on but the Missus said no. Marriage is a compromise... I get my wide open view of the world as we travel through it and she gets her 4 wheels.

As purchased, Manx copy of unknown origin, 1600 DP, Kadrons, dual cannons, swing axle. ball joint front beam, stock drums all around and 14" Chevy pattern wheels. The dual cannons did not last long, ran like crap and left our ears ringing after even a 2 hour road trip. 4 into 1 with stinger was much better mannered and a lot quieter.

The first photo is one of our first 11 hour tours (to visit family) at the summit of the Rodgers Pass.

Now 6 years later, some things have changed.

1600 oil burner is gone, 1911 type 4 engine, mild cam, Webers, crank trigger ignition, hand built properly sequenced dual cannons.
New adjustable front beam.
Swing axle gone, '74 Beetle 3.88 final drive IRS now.
Drum brakes gone, EMPI front discs, 944 rear discs and aluminum trailing arms.
Engine cage.
Bigger, more visible tail lights.
Porsche Fuchs wheels, 15" front, 16" rear.
Black stripes.

First photo of course is at the same summit in the pass this summer.
