2387 off-road cam/ head/ rocker choices

Post by Romine4006 »

So I’m currently building a 2387 for a woodsbuggy. Trail riding, cliff jumping, and Long steep hill climbing competitions. I ordered the crank, aluminum case, rods, bearings, chromoly push rods, and the dual Weber 44mm idf kit from cb performance. It has a 6 rib sideshift, I think it’s a 486. Other components such as the 94s and 110 cam are being used from a donor 1915cc. CB made it sound like using a 110 cam would be a significant bottleneck in power and recommended panchito heads if I keep the 110, or preferably going to a 120 cam and getting the mini wedge port heads. I’m not a fan of the panchito heads bc the specs look to close to stock imo. Is it worth going back and upgrading the cam just to run better heads or will the 110 work with the mini wedgeports without compromising low end? Also which rocker and flywheel combo would y’all recommend. The case was just sealed but pistons and jugs haven’t even been installed yet so replacing the cam wouldn’t be the end of the world, but I’d rather not split the case again unless it’s going to be a noticeable difference. This is my first engine build so hopefully some of you seasoned riders can point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance.
