Been a little bit since I have been on these forums (10years)
Seem playing with VWs is still a sickness........
So I currently have a Syncro westy with a 2.1DJ motor and after getting tired of forever wire and parts issues with the old fuel injecting I decided it was time for and upgrade.
I'm running a Haltech Elite 1500 managing
- sequential injector rehab EV14s
- sequential LS coils
- custom crank trigger on the back of the factory triple pulley
- MV vanagon dizzy converted into a cam trigger
- 54mm Bosch DBW throttle body
- hybrid VW/honda DBW pedal
- cruise control
- bosch donut style knock sensor
- EXA pump and cooler for the gearbox (kind of unrelated, but the ECU manages it)
lots of other details I have missed no doubt, but welcom to ask questions.
SO, to the point. I have been working on the ignition map and knock control and I am struggling a bit.
The timing numbers I am seeing are really high and from what I am seeing on other VWs the advance is bonkers, i'm a little scared to turn them up that high as my knock sensing is still a work in progress as well.
does anyone have an ignition map for the waterboxer they are willing to share so that I can compare? to reassure my poor burning pistons
secondly, what knock frequency are people using? I have the ECU looking around the 6050-6100HZ at the moment with mixed results.
I also use a second Knock sensor that is used for audio detection, these engines sure as noisy... Listening for knock sure needs a keen ear, thats why I was hoping to let the ECU take that duty.
Anyway, hopefully there is some experiences with this kind of thing on the forum and here are some photos
