Adjusting Carb

I'm trying to adjust my carburetor but having problems. I can't seem to get it right. When taking off or right after shifting to the next gear it has a slight hesistation, like it's stumbling. I'm looking for any kind of tips or procedures you guys may take when adjusting your carburetor. It's a 34pict carb, 74' Beetle.

What kind of distributor are you running?
