You may have accidentally transposed the HT leads for 3 & 4, (most likely to happen at the distributor end, but still possible at the plugs themselves).
Also, on a twin port engine, it is quite possible there is a leak at the rubber boot that joins the pieces of the inlet manifold. This could cause a very weak mixture, and hence no firing.
Before removing the engine, as mharney says above, check the compressions, if they are OK there is unlikely to be anything gained by removing the engine.
