Porsche Phone Dials on a Thing??

Post by JP_in_STL »

OK thingers I have a quandry. I really want some flashier wheels on my thing in a 15". I'm not quite willing to part with the $800 for a set of 5 Wide 5 Centerlines though . . .

I'm debating about converting to 4 wheel disks eventually and the Wide 5 options aren't cheap. I could go all disk for about $500 if I don't lock into the Wide 5. I could get blank rotors and have them drilled for the 5 bolt Porsche pattern, have an ebrake, and different wheels for under a $1000.

Does anyone have experience with putting wheels from a 924 or 944 like the Phone Dials on their 181?? I see these on eBay often for about $250 a set which are usually 15x7.

Thanks,

- JP

I have picked up Centerlines on e-bay for less than 1/2 your figure of $800.

I've seen Centerlines on eBay for $400 a set as well, but they always seem to be the mega wide ones for a Buggy. They almost NEVER have the proper ofset for a Thing and are usually from a Bug or Buggy application.

The proper size that I've been told for Centerline AutoDrag (Style 10 or 11) on a Thing with no lift and stock fenders is a 15x6 Wheel with 4.375 backspacing. All I usually see on eBay is the 2.375 backspacing for a Bug. If you use these you have to either lift or get diffferent fenders to avoid the rub.

So if someones got them for sale in nice shape let me know!!!!

Thanks,
